Denis Menchov wins ITT gold of Russian Road Championships

Katusha Team rider Denis Menchov for the first time in his career won gold medal in individual time trial of Russian Road Championships.

Today, in Voronezh was held Elite individual time trial for 50 km of Russian Road Championships.
Denis Menchov from Katusha Team became new ITT Russian Champion, taking gold for the first time in his career.
Menchov won +1.10 ahead of Dmitriy Sokolov from Lokosphinx andValery Kaykov from RusVelo, silver and bronze medallists of the championships. Another Katusha’s rider Vladimir Gusev missed a podium place for just 2 second, finishing 4th.
- I am very happy with the victory. For me this is first ever gold medal at Russian Road Championships and this is very important for me. Thanks to my team and the Russian Global Cycling Project I came back to national championships after 11 years and from the beginning could get a win! Its really fantastic. Today I felt very well, I see that my shape is improving every day and at the moment is at good level with just a week before Tour de France. I won quite easy, without super effort, so, I am satisfied. Tour de France is starting with just a week and I am waiting for it very much. We have a strong team, which can reach really good results, – said Denis MENCHOV.
