“Tour of Austria”: Ignatenko 4th in Kitzbuheler Horn uphill finish

Petr Ignatenko took the fourth place after a brilliant performance in the second stage of “Tour of Austria”, from Innsbruck to Kitzbuheler Horn: a stage characterized by 148 flat kilometers, while the last 9 were in a hard uphill with a more than 10% average incline. As soon as the crucial part of the route started, the Austrian rider Thomas Rohregger (RadioShack-Nissan) took advantage of his knowledge in order to try a strong attack, which created a huge selection in the group. The harshness of the climbing, plus the energy loss of this attack, made Rohregger give up to the counter-attack of Danilo Di Luca (Acqua&Sapone) and Steve Morabito (BMC): the former took an easily solo win, while the latter was second with a 7’’ gap. Third place for the Austrian rider of RadioShack-Nissan, that reached the finishing line with a 10’’ gap; Petr Ignatenko, always in the group ahead, was fourth, 21’’ far from Di Luca, which is also the new leader of general classification. The young Russian climber, instead, is now 4th, with a 31’’ gap.
