Triple Olympic champion Vyacheslav Ekimov is appointed to the position of general manager of Russian World Tour Katusha Team.
Following the purpose of further dynamic development of the Russian professional cycling, the management of the Russian Global Cycling Project made changes in the management of World Tour Katusha Team. The known Russian specialist, the three times Olympic champion Vyacheslav Ekimov who is also the adviser of Igor Makarov, president of Russian Cycling Federation and the chairman of Board of Directors of MGK "ITERA", is appointed to the post of general manager of Katusha Team as well as youth teams Itera-Katusha.
On the position of general manager Vyacheslav Ekimov will replace German specialist Hans-Michael Holzer.
Russian World Tour Katusha Team is a part of the Russian Global Cycling Project (RGCP). The Project was founded in 2008 with support of the companies entering in the Board of Trustees of Russian Cycling Federation - Gazprom, Rostekhnologii and MGK ITERA.
Vyacheslav Ekimov was born of February 4th 1966, the Soviet and Russian cyclist, the tree times Olympic champion, the six ford world champion in the various disciplines, the Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1986). The best Russian cyclist of the XX century. Graduated from the Lesgaft State Institute of Physical Culture.
