Yesterday, 13th December 2012, after several days of attempts to get the answer from the part of the International Cycling Union (UCI), whose Licence Commission denied without any reasons the 2013 World Tour license request of Katusha Team, the Russian Cycling Federation’s president and the UCI Management Committee member Igor Makarov has addressed to all members of the UCI Management Committee with a statement.
In the message from Mr. Makarov, the UCI Management Committee members were communicated about the current situation, the inexplicable decision and unwillingness of the UCI License Commission to communicate the true reasons about Katusha Team license. Mr. Makarovs message explains the support of the entire cycling community and the politics of complete isolation by the UCI.
Igor Makarov called on the members of the UCI Management Committee to express themselves about this question and together to try to change the situation, which is leading to the decline of international cycling system as well as to discredit the image of cycling worldwide.
Most of the UCI Management Committee members have already responded to this message, expressing their extreme concern about the situation, which is a loss to all cycling, provoked by the actions of the UCI head and the Licence Commission members.
In their responses to Mr. Makarov’s query, UCI Management Committee members called on the responsible persons for the fastest resolution of the situation and to accept only the right decision: returning the World Tour license to Katusha Team.
At the same time, four days since announcing the decision about the World Tour license rejection, Katusha Team and the entire Russian Global Cycling Project are still waiting for the concrete official position of the UCI about the current question and disclosures of the true reasons of the scandalous decision to be communicated.
