  • Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Russian Federation Cycling Fund

Today, the Russian sport is experiencing a revival, as evidenced by the results of our athletes, the number of medals won and a growing interest of sports fans. This is also true about cycling, which has recently seen rapid growth, largely thanks to the implementation of the Russian Global Cycling Project and the success of the Katusha National Cycling Team.

The next year will be the fifth anniversary for the project and the team. During this time, we joined efforts to achieve at least two objectives: to ensure the project’s sustainability and become a part of the professional cycling elite.

The State Corporation “Russian Technologies” gives strong support to the project. We closely follow the team’s results and we are proud of their achievements, which can and should be multiplied. The team’s new management has been enhancing the Russian involvement in the project, which should soon have a positive impact on the results of both young and experienced Russian cyclists.

In the upcoming season, Katusha will face new challenges, uncompromising struggle and, I believe, new achievements. I wish the team self-reliance and glorious victories.

  • Chairman of “Gazprom” Management Board

Dear friends! It has been four years since the launch of the Russian Global Cycling Project supported by Gazprom. During this short period of time the Russian professional team Katusha has managed to achieve an impressive result – second place among 18 worlds’ strongest teams. Having reached record high numbers of 29 victories and 80 podium places, the Katusha has completely strengthened its positions in the cycling world.

Previous years have shown us the first steps of the revival and development of one of the nations most favorite cyclic sports, in which our country has great traditions. Now it is the time for a real and serious result which means victories in the most prestigious races worldwide.

The fusion of the obtained experience, powerful structure, magnificent technical base and the athlete’s will for victory, will help Russian cycling to make a step to a new level of development in year 2013.

And, as in the previous four years, company «Gazprom» will completely support Katusha Team. Together we can win!

In the upcoming season the Russian Global Cycling Project will be celebrating its 5th year since foundation. The first Russian team in the UCI World Tour and the main cycling team of the country – Katusha Team is of the same age. Making its way into the fifth season inside the worlds main cycling league is the best proof of success achieved by the Project. In general we are still very young and we have a long way ahead, but for now we can already say that Katusha Team and the Project have set a mark in the history of cycling.

Since its appearance in the world cycling elite, Katusha Team moved ahead to achieve its goals step by step, it raised professionally a number of young Russian riders and became one of the best teams in the world. Katusha reached heights which were never before taken by domestic cycling. As a result – Katusha enters the fifth season with new strength, new management and powerful victorious motivation of the Russian riders. I am sure that the changes which were implemented in the team in the end of the season would bring noticeable results in the development of both – Katusha Team and the Russian Global Cycling Project in general.

While entering a new cycling season it is necessary to take all the experience gained in four years. This grants us the right to believe that in the upcoming year Katusha Team will keep following the ideology the main idea of which is the revival of cycling in Russia.
